Our Story

About ScoutTickets

We're building the intelligence layer that Texas oil and gas exploration has always needed — starting with the data that's been buried in filing cabinets for decades.

Our Mission

ScoutTickets exists to democratize exploration intelligence. For too long, historical well data — scout tickets, completion reports, and permit records — has been inaccessible to most operators, buried in regulatory archives and locked behind expensive proprietary databases.

We're changing that. By ingesting, normalizing, and scoring decades of Texas RRC data alongside real-time permit activity, we give exploration teams the full picture — from the first wildcat to today's active permit.

"The best exploration decisions are grounded in history. We make sure you have it."

What Are Scout Tickets?

Understanding the foundation of our intelligence platform.

The Original Field Intelligence

Scout tickets are handwritten or typed field reports compiled by geologists and "scouts" who monitored drilling activity in the early-to-mid 20th century. Before digital databases, operators employed scouts to physically observe and record well data across a basin — formation tops, shows, depths, operators, and results.

What They Contain

  • Well identification and location (section, township, range)
  • Formation tops and thicknesses
  • Oil, gas, and water shows by zone
  • Completion details and initial production rates
  • Operator, driller, and contractor information

Why They Matter Today

Scout tickets represent ground truth that no algorithm can replicate. They capture subsurface observations from the moment a well was drilled — before any reinterpretation or corporate data cleaning. For modern exploration teams, they're the analog foundation for digital-age decision making.

The ScoutTickets Difference

We digitize, normalize, and enrich historical scout ticket data — linking it to current Texas RRC well records, active permits, and production history. The result: a complete stratigraphic and operational picture of any Texas prospect, spanning from the earliest wildcats to today's horizontal programs.

Where We're Starting

Built for Scale, Starting in Texas

Texas is the world's most data-rich oil and gas environment — with the most scout ticket archives, the most active RRC reporting, and the highest density of formation diversity in North America. It's the ideal starting point for building a national exploration intelligence platform.

We've built our entire platform around Texas RRC data structures, county-level permit workflows, and basin-specific geology — with the architecture designed to expand. We go deep where it matters, then carry that depth into new states.

Our current coverage spans the Permian Basin, Eagle Ford, Haynesville, Midland Basin, Delaware Basin, Anadarko, and more — with county-specific normalization and scoring tuned to each play's unique characteristics.

Our roadmap includes Oklahoma, New Mexico, Colorado, North Dakota, and the full Permian Basin footprint across state lines. Texas is where we prove the model.
